2025 Summer Get Better Academy

The 2025 Rockford Elite Basketball Summer Get Better Academy runs July 14 -18, 2025 at Boylan High School Lou Bachrodt Center, 4000 St Francis Dr, Rockford, IL 61103!

Camp is 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m., and will include a variety of skill training, competitions, film study, fun, and games!

Camp to be led by Rockford Elite Staff, Players and featuring Coach Mateo Fernandez-Solari. 

With Special Guest former professional basketball player Ashraf Amaya joining the camp!

Campers should bring their own basketball, lunch and plenty of water daily.

What aged players are appropriate for this program?

Geared towards 2nd through 8th grade boys and girls.

When

What time of the year does this program run?

We run two seasons; Fall/Winter October to March and Spring/Summer March through June/July.

Where

Where are practices and games typically held?

Practices are typically held at Boylan High School's Lou Bachrodt Center 4000 St Francis Dr, Rockford, IL 61103. We do have two other locations should a scheduling need arise. Tournaments have been held in the Chicago Suburbs, Wisconsin, Iowa and Indiana.

Practices

When are practices and how often are they?

Teams practice 2 times per week. For 1.5 hours per day.

Games

How many games will they play? What days of the week?

Teams will play 15 to 30 games over the course of the season and will usually fall on the weekends. Previous locations included: Chicago Suburbs, Iowa, Wisconsin and Indiana.

Jerseys

Are jerseys provided or are they purchased separately?

Club jerseys and practice jerseys are required and are included with your registration fees (if needed).

Extra Costs

What costs beyond registration fees should be expected?

Expect to pay tournament entry fees for the various locations we play.

How long has Rockford Elite Basketball been around?

Rockford Elite Basketball was founded by Tim Knauf, with one team and six players, in 2009. As of today, Rockford Elite Basketball has multiple boys and girls teams ranging from 2nd grade through high school.

Who may participate with Rockford Elite Basketball?

We accept boys and girls who want to learn the game of basketball. We do make cuts to ensure we field a competitively balanced team.

What's Rockford Elite Basketball's core goal?

Our goal is to deliver mentally, physically, skilled, fundamentally sound, and high levels of basketball IQ players to their respective high schools.

When are the tryouts?

Tryouts are held in September for the fall/winter sessions and in March for the spring/summer sessions.

How are volunteer coaches selected?

Every coach goes through an interviewing process and thorough background check. Once we have selected a coach. We work closely with our coaches to build the final team rosters.

How much does it cost to play for Rockford Elite Basketball?

Participation costs, including uniforms, are roughly $550 to $1,000 depending on team and travel needs.

Where does the money go?

Roughly 85% of the costs go to renting the facilities for practices and tournament entry fees, 10% for administrative costs (insurance, legal, accounting, website and advertising) and 5% for operational reserves.
